Excerpts from A Brief Introduction to Non-Human Sapients, for Humans chapter “Wridids”, Part 2

One out of every ten of their limbs also has an orifice with the ability to create sound waves, and this is how they communicate. Their own language sounds to humans like random sound waves, but they are capable of producing human-like speech. The voice created by this is considered by humans to be high-pitched and squeaky.
The same orifice is used for consumption; they have an all-liquid diet as they have no way to chew and their digestion doesn’t support it. It’s believed that ancient wridids got their nutrition by drinking water full of algae and other small living organisms. As far back as written records go, wridids knew how to create a drink similar to beer which became their main source of sustenance. Now, they mainly consume a formula that packs as much nutrition as possible into a cup so as to not waste time to sustain themselves. Flavor means nothing to them: they have no taste buds.
Their sound-producing equivalent to a mouth is how they interact with the digital world as well. They “plug in” one of their limbs to a device attached to a computer. They produce low-magnitude high-frequency sound waves to give commands to the computers, and the computer produces sound waves in turn to give them information. Experimentation has been done on creating screens they can read using their senses, but they insist it’s much slower than their sound-based method and thus not worth investigating further.
Males and females exist within the species. Males have one limb which is different from the rest, and females are missing one limb but there is an orifice where one would be. As for reproduction, hopefully you can figure the rest out yourself.
