Excerpts from Dr. Hoffman’s class website, page Brief History of Humanity during the space age

2029: Self driving technology is perfected, and quickly becomes mandatory. Traffic deaths plummet.
2032: Lab grown meat begins en masse production, solving hunger issues worldwide.
2044: Quantum computing becomes commercially available.
2048: Beginning of Earth’s global ecological collapse due to global warming.
2051: Discovery of Roosevelt’s algae, named for their discoverer Clementine Roosevelt, also known as space algae.
2053: First successful warp travel space ship created.
2054: First colony on Nova Satus established. Many alien lifeforms, some with magic, discovered.
2057: First contact made with intelligent alien life, Phomotoa. Discovered that they have not invented warp travel as Roosevelt’s algae do not live on their planet, and we are also the first intelligent alien life they have encountered.
2060-2080: Mass exodus of the remaining 6 billion humans and other terrestrial lifeforms from Earth to Nova Satus. As humans relocate, existing power structures are cast aside and humanity re-consolidates itself under the United Planets of the Milky Way (UPMW). During the exodus, flying ships begin replacing cars as the main form of transportation, changing the way cities are built.
2082: Lipals discovered. Same story as Phomotoa: No space travel, we’re their first intelligent contact. After this many more intelligent life forms are discovered, all in the same situation.
2112: UPMW begins making efforts to colonize other planets to live up to its name, with Nova Satus as the capitol.
2137: Nova Satus is declared to be post-scarcity.
2145: Christland becomes the first human-colonized planet to separate itself from the UPMW.
2156: Humanity as a whole reaches 100 planets colonized, 94 of which belong to the UPMW. Only 14 of these planets have a population greater than a billion.
2161: UPMW reaches 100 planets colonized.
2185: First colony established in the Andromeda galaxy.
2240: The galaxy has been thoroughly explored enough for scientists to conclude that there is no more intelligent life advanced enough to use radio signals in the Milky Way, and that humans were the first in the galaxy to discover warp travel.
2264: Humanity reaches 1000 planets colonized, 863 under the UPMW. Most non-UPMW states are on single planets only.
2309: Total human population reaches one trillion.
